Mascara

Mascara opens up the eyes to make them look their most fluttery fabulous. If you’re blessed with long, lush lashes, mascara is the magic tool to glorify them If you have a finer fringe of lashes, mascara helps make the most of every single one. Consider it a beauty staple and an eye-look plus for every occasion.

Cosmetics companies recognize mascara’s appeal and have introduced all sorts of brushes, combs, paints, polymers, primers, lengtheners, thickeners, and more. Check out some of the innovations, and find your fave. To skip smudginess, try waterproof formulas or the new “tube” technology mascaras. Those babies last all day without a single smear.

If you use an eyelash curler, always do so before applying mascara. Crimping after mascara causes breakage—not what we’re after here!

Подпись: FUN WITH FALSIES • Apply a shimmering highlight shade across the entire lid. Next, snip a set of false lashes in half. Place each half on the outside corner of an eye, and follow with a slick of liquid liner. Devastating! • Apply a few individual false lashes at the center part of the upper lid to boost your flirt factor.

One other no-no: don’t pump the wand in and out of the tube. This is as pointless as shaking a Polaroid. The action dries out the mascara and often loads too much onto the brush—a one-way ticket to Goopyville.

To create a natural look, sweep on one easy coat, starting with the brush at the base of the lashes and using a zigzagging motion up to the tips. For extra drama, reapply a second coat or concentrate another application only at the outer corners. When it’s lower-lash time, first lightly wipe off the wand with a paper towel and then hold the brush vertically, waving it back and forth. Stupendous!

I prefer smaller mascara wands, as they offer more control and get to the hard-to-reach lashes. Keep a good lash comb on hand to separate any clumpies. For smudges, use a cotton swab or concealer brush dipped into foundation for a quick cleanup.

For ladies with thick lashes (you lucky bunch), try lining the lash line with golden bronze eyeliner or powdered eye shadow. Comb on black mascara and—curtain up—it’s showtime!

For women with fine lashes, fire up the ka-pow by dotting dark eyeliner pencil in between each lash to bring out their full potential.
