PLANE PRETTY

When traveling by plane, you need to protect your skin from the drying effects of a pressurized air cabin. I like to begin my trip with a bare face that has been slathered with a good moisturizer. Once you are comfortably in the air, apply a great lip balm for a sweet smile that won’t look parched. Tap on a little eye cream or a rich moisturizer around the delicate eye area. I use the free samples offered at many department stores.

While onboard, avoid consuming alcohol and salty snacks, which can exacerbate dehydration. Instead, drink lots of water and bring your own nibbles, like fresh fruit, unsalted nuts, and baby carrots. I also try to spritz a little mineral water on my face during the flight. (I recommend doing this in the lavatory so you don’t shower your fellow travelers!)

Shortly before landing, put down that tray table and whip out your 5-minute face supplies to guarantee a gorgeous arrival. (PS: Window seats offer the best lighting.)

My 5-minute face technique is perfect for your entire trip.

• First, apply primer and a liquid foundation.

• Follow with a creamy blush on the apples of your cheeks and a dab of cream highlighter under your brows, on the inside corners of your eyes, and on top of your cheekbones.

• Next, dust on a light translucent powder and line the upper lash line with a pencil.

• Finish with mascara on the upper lashes and a slick of your favorite lip color.

Voila: A fresh appearance sure to have the customs agents swooning!
