Washcloths versus Scrubs

Using a washcloth every night to help get your makeup off or for exfoliation can be just as effective, if not more so, than using a scrub you purchase. Scrubs are an option when they are gentle (overly abrasive scrubs can be irritating and damaging to the skin’s vital protective surface), but why use a second product when you only need one? Plus you wouldn’t want to use a scrub product over the eye area and risk getting those particles in the eye. To be certain that you are getting all your makeup off and gently exfoliating at the same time, using a washcloth in conjunction with a gentle, water-soluble cleanser is a great option. The goal is to always remove your makeup thoroughly every night, since leaving any amount of makeup on all night long can cause irritation, breakouts, or dryness. One more thing: be sure to use a clean washcloth every time. Re-using a damp washcloth will transfer unhelpful bacteria to skin, even if you thoroughly rinse before re-using.
