Tagamet

Tagamet (active ingredient cimetidine) is an oral medication commonly used for acid indigestion and to treat stomach ulcers and other digestive discomforts. However, Tagamet has been shown to have an anti-androgenic effect, meaning it blocks the binding of DHT, and that can in turn reduce hair loss (Source: International Journal of Dermatology, March 1987, pages 128-130). However, for women, there is research showing that cimetidine can also induce hair loss (Sources: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, January 2000, pages 89-94; and Therapie, March-April 1995, pages 145-150).
