Hmmm . . . concealer. Even the word is suspect. We’re not here to hide a darn thing about your beauty. Maybe we should rename it “focus shifter” instead. Concealer is often abused; let’s rethink it and go easy.
Two types of concealer can help spotlight your awesome complexion: under-eye concealer and blemish concealer.
Under-eye concealer — This should have a pinky or peachy undertone and should be bright and lightly applied. Use it to illuminate the under-eye area, giving your eyes that fresh, wide-awake look. If you try to erase every last trace of darkness, you’ll wind up with a creasy, cakey mess.
Blemish concealer — This has recently appeared in crazy colors like purple and green. Now, unless you’re Michelangelo, good luck trying to blend them into the right combination. For concealing minor imperfections, choose a concealer that is about a half shade lighter than your foundation and has a more yellow cast instead of a pinky undertone. Pat it on lightly, and remember that you’re a supercharged lady who won’t let a little zit zap your style.
