SHADE

The biggest money drain when it comes to cosmetics is getting the wrong shade—you can’t use it so you throw it away or stick it in the back of your makeup drawer.

This is probably the reason most of us don’t feel comfortable shopping without a salesperson. You can become your own beauty expert. After all, who knows your face better than you?

USE YOUR HANDS

Actually, it’s on the underside of your wrists. That’s where skin undertones are most apparent.

Those with warm tones should go with yellow and orange shades. Those with cool tones should use red and blue shades.

CHECK YOUR VEINS

If the veins on your inner wrist are a greenish shade, then you’re a warm.

Bluer veins mean you have cool tones.
