CELEBRITY HAIR SECRETS

Have you ever wondered how Melanie Griffith has maintained such great hair after so many dos and colors? She relies on almond oil. She just puts a few drops on her fingers and scrunches it into her hair, leaves it on for twenty minutes, and then shampoos and conditions.

When Julia Roberts decides to go curly, she scrunches her hair with a curl-enhancing gel just after shampooing, and curls with a curling iron in a vertical direction.

Drew Barrymore’s secret hair trick for less – than-perfect hair days is to part her hair in the middle, pull one side back, and then secure it with a big sparkling barrette. You can find great ones at flea markets, or use a big pin. Attach it to your hair with bobby pins.

Ananda Lewis’ beautiful long hair is a combination of using Herbal Essences conditioning balm and this great secret: when she’s having a bad hair day, she applies olive oil over the top of her hair to calm it down and give it shine.

Here’s what makes up MICHELLE PFEIFFER’s beauty treatments for her hair.

Two egg yolks

One-quarter cup honey

One ounce rum

One ounce apple cider vinegar

added to 7 ounces water

She warms the honey, lets it cool, and applies it to her roots. Then she mixes the egg yolks and rum, and smothers her hair shaft with the mixture. She covers her head with a shower cap for twenty minutes. Michelle then rinses with water, shampoos as usual, and rinses with the vinegar and water combination.

Britney Spears’ split ends get treated with castor oil. She rubs it between her palms and applies it to the ends.

James King puts her own highlights in her hair. Here’s how: she cuts out the top of an old straw hat, pulls her hair through the hole, then pours cooled chamomile tea on her hair and sits out in the sun for about thirty minutes. She then washes and conditions.

Mandy Moore adds shine to her hair with a whole egg and one-half cup of honey. She puts the mixture on dry hair, combs it through, and leaves it on for about an hour. Then she washes it out. It keeps her hair shiny and soft.

Moore also had a lot of bad hair days growing up. She was the victim of too many permanents. Here’s the conditioning trick that fixed her damaged hair: pour jojoba oil all over dry hair, concentrating on the ends. Leave it on about ten minutes, and then rinse it through with very warm water. Shampoo and condition lightly.

Reese Witherspoon’s hair tends to "puff" up. She uses baby oil to make it behave.

Molly Sims rates avocado as her favorite conditioner. She mashes a ripe avocado in a bowl and then applies it to unwashed hair. Molly leaves it on for twenty minutes before shampooing thoroughly.

Melissa Joan Hart loves the smell of lavender. Every day she applies lavender oil (available at health food stores and natural supermarkets) to her hair, concentrating on her ends to tame and scent.

Jennifer Aniston uses Mane ‘n Tail shampoo once a week. This shampoo was originally marketed to silken show horses’ manes.

Tori Spelling loves to mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a tablespoon of peroxide and apply it to damp hair. Then she sits out in the sun for twenty minutes to lighten it.

Deborah Messing lets her just-curled hair cool before finger-combing; she finishes with a silicone spray for shine.

Carmen Electra mashes a ripe avocado, puts it in her hair, and then sits out in the sun for a half hour. After rinsing, she’s left with soft and shiny hair.
