TOSS IT

If it was expensive but you never wear it. It’s just a reminder of money wasted. It serves no purpose except to make you feel bad.

If it doesn’t fit. If something’s too big or too small, it will just make you look bad when you wear it. It’s not worth the closet space.

If you have several of the same. Do you really need ten black skirts? Take the top three and get rid of the rest. Sort them accordingly.

If it’s the wrong color. If the color doesn’t flatter you or it doesn’t go with one other thing in your wardrobe, dump it. We all own those great buys in that awful "of course it’s on sale because no one else would ever dream of wearing that" color.

If it hurts! There’s nothing worse than something that’s uncomfortable when you’re wearing it. If your skin can’t breathe, if it scratches or chafes, you need to throw it out.

If it’s seen its better days. It may be classic, you may love it and have spent a fortune on it, but

everything has a life. There’s just so many times you can get something dry-cleaned, tailored, or resoled without it looking battered and spent.

If you have a hard time getting rid of a piece of clothing, then move it to another part of the house. You should have a box for such items. Then, after a while, you’ll be able to look through the box without being emotionally attached. You’ll be ready to 4 permanently get rid of the item.
