Some personal emergencies can be quickly and easily solved at home. It’s good to know there are inexpensive solutions to our everyday problems. However, please consult a health practitioner if your problem worsens.
HEAT RASH
Sometimes we confuse heat rashes with acne because they can look very similar. A rash usually occurs when your sweat glands are blocked. Make sure to change clothes after exercising or spending a day outside to allow your skin to breathe.
At the first sign of the heat rash, use a medicated healing lotion.
Avoid wearing friction-causing clothing. Keep the area that may be exposed to friction cool and dry with talcum powder.
Stay away from perfume and lotions that might react on sensitive areas.
Wear cotton clothing rather than synthetics. Cotton allows the skin to breathe.
CHAPPED LIPS
There’s never a need to be a flaky kisser when you can easily make your own moisturizing lip balm.
Combine four teaspoons of almond oil and the contents of one vitamin E capsule, and warm in the microwave. When mixture is just slightly warm (check it on the inside of your wrist), gently pat on your lips. You’ll love the taste!
To add a bit of color to your lip balm, after the mixture has been taken out of the microwave, add a chunk or two of your favorite lipstick. |
