QUICK DREADS

Divide your hair into one-inch sections and coat each with styling wax. Twist tightly around your finger. Repeat until your entire head is complete.

COILS

Wet hair and saturate with gel. Separate hair into one-inch sections and wrap tightly around a straw. Secure at the root to keep straws in place. Allow hair to dry or blow dry on the lowest setting. Slip out straws.

QUICK SHINE

After shampooing and conditioning, gently stroke hair from roots to ends with an ice cube. The cold seals the hair shaft, so it reflects light better.

Run a small amount of baby oil through your hair.

BROKEN LIPSTICK

• Put broken lipstick back together by heating the broken piece with a match until soft.

• Then sit it back on the tube, waiting five minutes before rolling it down the tube.

• Put it in the freezer for ten minutes to weld it together.

NO TIME TO BLOW DRY

Blow-dry only the hair on top of your head, above the ears. It’s what frames your face and what people see first.

BLOW DRYER BURN OUT

Apply a few drops of castor oil with a grooming cream once hair is dry.

QUICK BANG TRIM

You can trim your own bangs. Start with dry bangs. Use the top half inch of a pair of small scissors with the blades angled upward, not across. Snip small pieces from side to side at least fifteen to twenty times.

TOO MUCH HAIR COLOR

If your hair came out too dark, shampoo with a mild dishwashing liquid. It will lift away some of the color pigment.

Shampoo with a dandruff shampoo, lathering twice.

TOO MUCH HAIR PRODUCT

Blot a witch hazel-soaked cotton ball over excess product to break down the product. Continue styling.

FAKE AN UP DO

Use a ponytail holder that looks like braided hair. Pull hair back into a low ponytail and twist into a bun. Secure with an elastic band and cover with holder.

EMERGENCY HAIR MOUSSE

Use a small amount of shaving cream (not shaving gel) in a fix.

CHLORINE-COLORED HAIR

Rinse with apple cider vinegar, followed by club soda.

Add three aspirin to a your regular shampoo dosage.

BAD HAIRCUT

Slick back with gel. Experiment with barrettes and headbands.
